Aspirational Clutter – it is really a thing!
“Have you ever bought something for the version of yourself you planned to be?
🎸 The guitar you swore you’d learn.
🥤 The juicer for your daily green smoothies.
🥾 The hiking gear still with the tags on
Welcome to the world of aspirational clutter, where perfectly good stuff goes to live out its days in cupboards, sheds, garages and under beds.
If it’s been years, then “one day” probably isn’t coming.
It’s not about bad decisions, often these purchases were a well-intentioned, a way of investing in ourselves.
The problem is, over time, these items can quietly turn from inspiration into guilt and overwhelm. If an object’s only job now is to remind you of what you aren’t doing, it’s not helping you and it is time to move it on.
Let go of what’s tied to “someday” but has been gathering dust for years. Clearing out what’s holding you back creates room, physically and mentally for the life you’re actually living. Letting go is the most aspirational move you can make.
Before you purchase things in this category in future, see if your friends or family have one you can borrow to trial for a while, or is there a lending library in your local neighborhood (news flash, you are not the only one who has walked this path).
There are a few options to eliminate buying excess only to stuff away unused, if you need any assistance, give us a call for a DIY consult.
